Domestic Infant Adoption Program

For over 40 years, Adoptions Unlimited has guided families through adoption. Private adoption focuses on the placement of children in the U.S., emphasizing direct hospital placement.

This adoption type allows parents to bond with their child from birth and experience the special moments of raising a child from infancy. A family hoping to adopt has many options when choosing their adoption path. You can work with a licensed adoption agency, attorney, facilitator, or consultant.

Whichever route you choose, the first step to a successful adoption is to have an approved Home Study completed by a licensed Adoption Agency.

In a private domestic adoption, birth parent relinquishment or consent forms are completed, terminating the birth parent's rights, and releasing the minor into the prospective adoptive parents' care.

If you have a successful out-of-state placement, you will need the home state's approval before returning home with your baby. This approval is called Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC).

Adoptions Unlimited will work concurrently with out-of-state and local agencies to help facilitate your adoption. Once you are home with your baby, you must complete post-placement supervision. The post-placement supervision period will vary, depending on where the child was born and where you are finalizing the adoption.
