• Open adoption: Birth parent(s) can have direct contact with child and family. Usually, calls (verbal and video), pictures and letters are exchanged. Birth parent(s) may have ability to request visits with birth child. 
• Semi-open adoption: Birth parent(s) will receive periodic pictures and updates.
• Closed adoption: in this process, no information will be given or received by either the birth parents or the adoptive family.
